From Stuart Street Reserve the trail proceeds along Forbes, Little Parry and Lord Street. At Lord Street the trail joins the shared path that follows the Graham Farmer Freeway to the river. The trail travels north hugging the river reaching its final destination – Banks Reserve.

banks reserve - wetlands heritage trail

banks reserve The final leg of the trail takes you through the most densely built-up area of the City with its fascinating cultural and social overlay all the way to the serenity of the river’s edge.

As the trail crosses William Street, you can experience one of the most culturally diverse locations in the State. Successive waves of immigration have all left their mark, as is evident in the eclectic mix of architecture and the many shops selling food and products from all corners of the world.

Banks Reserve is the eastern-most point of the trail and is one of the City's most scenic parks. Originally known as Swan Street Reserve, it was established in the early part of the 20th century. In the mid 1960s the name was changed to Banks Reserve. Wetlands water still flows to the river via Walters' Brook. The reserve’s many features include an amphitheatre, playground, exercise equipment and barbeques.
