As one of the State’s best loved parks, Hyde Park is a perfect location for picnics and gatherings, exercising or simply taking in the beauty of this turn-of-the-century designed park.
Originally an Aboriginal hunting and camping area know as the Third Swamp, it later became a camping ground for the bullock wagoners and men on their way to the Goldfields. In 1897 it was officially approved to become a public garden and formally designed by Lyall Hall in the following year. While constantly improving the facilities, the City of Vincent is eager to preserve the various heritages of the area, including the original late 19th century layout and conceptions of the park.
